5 Ways to Deal with a Skin Breakout

“Ahhh I am breaking out! When will this ever end?” I hear this from clients of all ages. When I first started in the skin business I learned quickly that just because you get to a certain age does not mean that breakouts stop.

Wayne Dyer, a brilliant author and spiritual teacher said, “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” In some ways, breakouts are miraculous. They are these unique messaging systems to tell you that something is going on inside of you or something you have done to your outsides is not agreeing with your choices.

How to Handle a Skin Breakout

So let’s break down a breakout and figure out what to do about it. Here are five ways to deal with a breakout to help you along this bumpy road:

Breakout Remedies

Don't Pick It. If you get a breakout, don’t pick or squeeze it. I use to tell my son that if he leaves it alone it would be ugly for three days, if he picked it, it is ugly for ten, this is a good general rule to avoid the temptation.

Solid Skin Care. Find a great cleanser to wash with when you get a breakout, sometimes just using something that has a bit more washing power helps move the breakout along a little more quickly. Purifying Gel Cleanser by GloSkinBeauty is a great cleanser to have for these moments. Keep a jar of complexion wipes
in your sports bag for a quick wipe before and after sports or the gym. Use a deep pore cleansing mask a few times a week- this mask is not only a good cleansing mask, but also helps brighten and give your skin a refreshed vibe, plus it helps you do something kind for yourself. This helps you settle down a bit in those stressful times. Find a great spot treatment to blast on am and pm or anytime you feel your hands heading north to your face. I love this serum- even though it is not specifically for a spot treatment, I have found it to be miraculous in spot treating those annoying under the skin blemishes that come out of nowhere. This used to be called renew serum, Glo changed the name to beta clarity aha drops.
