ALAYNE'S TIPS FOR SELF - CARE

This may surprise you, but my self-care tips are not about coming into my spa and getting a facial.

Sure, if this is something you love as one of the ways you take care of yourself, I am not suggesting that you don’t do this, but this visit is only a few hours of your life.

What are you doing the rest of the time?

Why is self care important?
Media and social media are really good at creating ideas that involve the word, Should. We should self care, we should meditate, work out, have more money saved, eat better, sleep better, have sex more often, communicate better, but why?

Why is caring for ourselves important?

Here’s why.

We only have one life, this one, and living one that is healthy, peaceful and happy makes for a way better day than the opposite.

As I age, I find myself worrying about new things. Worry has never served me, but yet I know that worry is this weird innate compilation of thoughts that swirl regularly.

It seems to be human nature to worry.

I like to think of worry as some sort of protection mechanism in our brains to keep us safe.

When I think back to all of the things I have worried about in my life, barely any of them happened. I consider how much time I wasted thinking thoughts that made me feel bad.

I find myself wanting to use the precious time I have feeling good and relaxed as often as possible. How about you?

What are we waiting for? Is it possible to feel good more often? To feel joy and less worry?
When I consider a thought that comes up and give it a rating of how that thought makes me feel, I realize that my thoughts have a lot of power. I want them to be  helpful, not depleting and negative.

It takes practice and awareness to make change; this is the first step to true self care. Changing your thought patterns so you can get out of your own way and feel good more than you don’t.

Here are some great one liners that you can exchange with some of the other thoughts that have taken our brains hostage. These thoughts may feel odd, but if a negative thought comes up in my Wild West of a brain, when I remember to replace the thought with something like one of these, I feel better and this is good enough.

  • I am good enough.
  • Life is good.
  • I have exactly what I need at the right time.
  • The universe is abundant and provides abundance when I allow it to work its magic.
  • I am loveable.
  • I am fierce and powerful.
  • I am grateful.
  • I accept myself exactly as I am.
  • Enough is Enough.
  • All is perfectly aligned in my life.
  • The universe is big enough to go around.
  • I easily and effortlessly attract abundance into my life.

Alayne’s Tips for Self Care

STAND TALL: Remember to bring your shoulders back throughout your day and notice how it feels. Stronger, more confident. You are a #lovelybadass. Say it.

BREATHE DEEP: Use mundane moments, like waiting in line or driving, to take a nice deep conscious breath.

USE SPLAT: When something pushes your buttons, visualize the idea of something coming at you and think of it as SPLAT. Ask yourself, ‘Is this true?’Act accordingly.

LOOK UP: Look up as often as possible - at the trees, the birds, the sky and realize the magnificence. Admire nature more than the phone. Nature is a miracle.

SMILE OFTEN: Notice your facial expression in the middle of your moments and smile. Smiling changes things.

CHANGE THOUGHTS: Your thoughts are your own, use them wisely. Change them often. You will feel better with a better thought.
