The Art of Indulging

Regardless of who you are or what your profession is, we all need to indulge a bit sometimes. Yes, even the owner of a business that caters to indulging needs to unwind from things happening behind the scenes and in their personal life - to take a step back and just breathe.

A few weeks ago (ruining a bit of the movie magic here, but those videos we post aren’t all filmed the day we post them!) I had the unfortunate experience of attending two funerals in one week. It was an emotionally draining experience, made even tougher by the fact that the two women were young. These weren’t 99 year old grannies who lived long, fascinating lives - these were lives cut too short by disease and illness. It truly hit me in a way that just made things… hard.

So, I decided to indulge.

I took a look through our booking system and saw that one of Alayne White’s best - Katelyn (okay, they’re all the best - we only hire the best!) - had an opening that very afternoon for a Spassage. And it was too short of notice for a member of the public to book it so… I booked it. Sorry, not sorry.

That time to myself - to relax, unwind, and indulge - was restorative. I don’t want to push a service in this post (although if you’re looking for an amazing service definitely check out the Spassage)... I just want to push indulging. Relaxing. Taking time for yourself. Blocking off a bit of your day to escape the chaos, or the sadness, or the frustration. And to just breathe.

After my Spassage I decided I wasn’t done indulging. I popped across the street to the convenience store and picked up a pint of Ben & Jerry’s and - again, sorry not sorry - ate the entire thing.

Taking that time for myself, to do something just for me and not for my family, or for my friends, or for my business. Not in honor of someone else, or memory of someone else - just for me was so needed. And can be achieved in so many ways.

  • Curl up with a great book and a cup of tea.
  • Take a bath and just soak.
  • Sit on the deck with a cup of coffee.
  • Go for a stroll without your phone, alone.

You can, of course, also book a service - any service - at Alayne White. For the most part, our services all have some sort of external benefit - they make your skin bright and shiny, they help boost collagen production to decrease fine lines, etc. Because each service has different methods and products that are used, every service isn’t right for every person at any given time. BUT in general, any service is great for any person because it provides the emotional and mental benefit of indulging. Doing a little something that’s just for you.

To book a service, you can book online or call us at either location.
